CAPS is the only local organization that provides psychosocial and physical interventions for torture and trauma survivors. With our emphasis on holistic and comprehensive psychosocial care, and commitment to serve humanity with confidentiality and compassion, we have changed the way society thinks about torture and trauma survivors, and we have generated knowledge to the benefit of our clients and society.
MISSION: The mission of CAPS is to promote and enable the healing of the traumatized survivors of torture, war, and organized violence through individual and group counseling and other psycho-social and physical rehabilitation services to community stakeholders, and those who have suffered and survived trauma and torture.
VISION: To enable traumatized individuals, families, and communities to resume satisfying and productive daily life functions and activities in a secure environment and to promote a community culture that promotes respect, dignity, and the human rights of all persons while rejecting all types of violence and related human rights abuses.

STRUCTURE: CAPS has a general membership known as the General Assembly, a Board of Directors, an Executive Director, Admin Finance Manager, two Field Coordinators, two Clinical Supervisors, Psychosocial Counselors and other support staff. The CAPS constitution and by-laws serve as guiding principles of the organization.
LEGAL STATUS: CAPS is registered with the Sierra Leone Association of Non Governmental Organizations (SLANGO), and Ministries of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs, Health and Sanitation, and Finance and Economic Development. Registration with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development provides legal status for NGOs to operate in Sierra Leone.
